Our Story
From Local Practice to National Model
ACA’s roots began in 1995, when Dr. Lee Tannenbaum (“Dr. T”) co-founded a successful family medicine practice in Baltimore. Witnessing firsthand the devastating impact of the opioid crisis—and the systemic flaws in traditional addiction care—Dr. T became one of the first U.S. physicians board-certified in addiction medicine.
He began integrating medication-assisted treatment (MAT) into his practice in 2002 and soon launched a stand-alone addiction treatment center: the Bel Air Center for Addictions. Over time, this model evolved into ACA—a full-scale, concierge-style addiction medicine program developed in partnership with his daughter, Lisa, a Physician Assistant. Together, they’ve created a replicable, sustainable model that blends clinical excellence with operational ease.
